This book is a love letter to the Gardens. William’s photographs showcase the diverse displays, vibrant flora and fauna and dynamic celebrations over the years. The photographs also capture moments of joy, creative expression – even playful otter movements! – to tell the story of Gardens by the Bay.
I hope this book will inspire more to contribute in their own ways to protect and cherish the nature we have in Singapore, to create our City in Nature together.

Gardens by the Bay was born from a bold vision: to create a world-renowned horticultural wonder where people from all walks of life can gather, connect, and create cherished memories with their loved ones. Since opening, the Gardens has blossomed into a beloved icon, offering a rich tapestry of experiences that captivate and inspire countless visitors. Whether it is the breathtaking floral displays in Flower Dome, the enchanting glow of lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival, or the mesmerising lights and music of Garden Rhapsody, every visit to the Gardens is an opportunity to discover something new and magical.
We are deeply grateful for the unwavering love and support that Singaporeans have shown towards the Gardens over the years. Their enthusiasm and appreciation have been instrumental in our journey, enabling our visitorship to grow steadily and reached an all-time high of over 14.5 million in 2024. This remarkable milestone cements Gardens by the Bay’s position as one of Singapore’s most treasured destinations, a place where garden artistry, creativity, and community come together in harmony.
Behind the success of Gardens by the Bay is a special group of people whose contributions often go unseen yet are deeply valued: our volunteers. Since our early years, volunteers have played an essential role in shaping the Gardens into the vibrant and welcoming space it is today. Their passion, dedication, and selfless generosity have enriched our efforts and strengthened our bond with the community. Mr William Tan has been a long-time volunteer since 2012, devoting countless hours assisting our horticulture team at the Flower Dome, working quietly behind the scenes to help maintain our stunning floral displays.
Over the years, our volunteer family has grown to more than 1,000 individuals, each bringing unique skills, experiences, and fresh perspectives. From nurturing our lush greenery alongside our horticulturists to educating visitors about the wonders of nature, from supporting community outreach initiatives to enhancing our guest experience, their involvement has touched every corner of the Gardens. It is this collective spirit that truly makes Gardens by the Bay a People’s Garden – a place built not just for the community but with the community.
We are incredibly proud of our volunteers and remain committed to nurturing this passionate community. Their dedication reminds us that the Gardens is a living, breathing space shaped by the passion and hands of those who care for it.
